Megan Redstall: The Breakthrough Year
In many ways, it has been a breakthrough year for Megan Redstall, and it might get a whole lot better.
The 25-year-old won the vacant Commonwealth bantamweight title in February with a wide and unanimous points decision victory over Consolata Musanga. Redstall got a far more meaningful win in July when she dropped and outpointed an incredibly tough Maiseyrose Courtney. Redstall claimed the vacant WBO International flyweight title with her win at the Brentwood Centre in Essex. Redstall won by scores of 100-89, 100-89, and a little closer 98-91. If 2026 was her breakthrough year, that win over Courtney was her breakthrough performance. A little statement made.

Redstall (8-0-1) was beyond impressive that summer night in a fight that pre-fight was hard to call. If we didn’t know just how good Redstall was before her showdown with Courtney, we certainly did after. It was a world-class performance against a very good domestic rival.
The 25-year-old makes her return next month, when she takes on the unbeaten French fighter
Lauryne Brankaer (8-0-2) for the IBO flyweight title. Redstall will be extremely confident of maintaining her momentum against Brankaer.

Redstall has probably been one of boxing’s best-kept secrets. Or at least she was. The manner of that victory over Courtney changed all that.
It’s been a year of collecting plaudits and titles, and if that continues on December 6th, even more could follow next year. The undisputed world flyweight champion Gabriela Fundora defends her titles against Jasmina Zapotoczna later this month. Redstall has already stated that she wants to fight the winner. That kind of statement might have been easily dismissed as delusion not so long ago. It won’t be now. It’s fair to say the secret is out.
