Karriss Artingstall Announces Her Retirement

The surprise announcement that Karriss Artingstall is retiring from boxing is a sad one. A fighter who should have been a world champion leaves the sport with a professional career unfulfilled.

Artingstall last fought in March 2025. A career-best performance to drop and outpoint Raven Chapman at the Royal Albert Hall. That victory earned Artingstall the British featherweight title. It appeared that win would kick-start a new beginning for her. But it didn’t happen for her.

There haven’t been obvious frustrations that the fights haven’t come her way. One fight in 2024. Only one last year. It’s an almost criminal waste of talent.

Artingstall had a highly successful amateur career that included winning medals at the 2019 European and World championships. But her crowning moment was winning a bronze medal at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

After signing with Boxxer and turning professional in 2022 with a six-round points victory over Vaida Masiokaite, Artingstall only managed seven professional fights in over four years in the pro ranks. “I was just waiting for the opportunity,” Artingstall told FightPost. I was just never given it.”

It could be a decision made out of sheer frustration over her career stalling so dramatically. At just 31, Artingstall has time, and you sense that she might reconsider her decision at some point in the future. But if the retirement call is final, the career of Karriss Artingstall is one of those great what-if stories.
