Megan Redstall vs. Maiseyrose Courtney: Big Fight Preview

Megan Redstall vs. Maiseyrose Courtney: Big Fight Preview

Megan Redstall and Maiseyrose Courtney would have been on edge during fight week. Both fighters are no strangers to last-minute fallouts. Opponents falling away when the first bell was agonisingly within touching distance. It was Courtney who had to withdraw at the last minute with a hand injury sustained in her very last spar, when they were originally supposed to fight earlier this year.

But both Redstall and Courtney have made it without any drama. They have weighed in, and they will clash for the vacant WBO International flyweight title in Brentwood on Sunday night. It is a fight that deserves a British title attached to it. But that WBO bauble on offer carries meaning and will push the winner closer to a world title opportunity in the coming months.

Redstall is the slight betting favourite. Although, in truth, it is a genuine 50/50 fight. The former Commonwealth bantamweight champion is probably one of those fighters who has somewhat gone under the radar. Quietly going about her work. But if the odds are proved correct, a win over Courtney will immensely raise her profile. And push her career to another level. A victory would take her out of the shadows.

The 25-year-old has built up a solid-looking resume of 7-0-1. Redstall has recovered from a little setback earlier in her career. A draw against the tough Ukrainian Inna Statkevych in her third professional fight has been followed by five straight victories. But with the greatest respect to her previous opponents, Maiseyrose Courtney is a significant step up in competition for her. Courtney is by some distance the best opponent Redstall has faced to date, and will tell us just how good Megan Redstall is.

Courtney (9-1) has struggled for activity of late. Injuries have played a big part in that. A career stalled when it needed the complete opposite. Courtney lost her unbeaten record to Jasmina Zapotoczna in 2024, and she has only managed three fights since. Courtney fought twice in 2025. A statistic that Courtney doesn’t welcome. Or need. The win over Sara Orszagi in December was her last fight. The 25-year-old will be keen to pick up the pieces of her career against Redstall. But what has been lost over the last few years can be retrieved if she beats Redstall.

The one defeat on the resume of Courtney was that defeat to the talented Zapotoczna, who went on to win the European flyweight title. Redstall hasn’t yet fought at this level. We don’t yet know her ceiling. Courtney is a quality fighter and will tell us plenty about where her opponent could go.

Megan Redstall vs. Maiseyrose Courtney is a fight that’s full of intrigue and importance. The loser can come again. The winner moves on and up. Johnny Clark promotes another top-quality Top-Tier card, which will be broadcast live on DAZN. Redstall vs. Courtney is a more than deserving headline fight. Picking a winner is extremely difficult. A case can be made for either. Exactly what a main event should be.
