Skye Nicolson Impresses Again
Opening the DAZN main card tonight on the big Kiko Martinez Josh Warrington show at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, Skye Nicolson made it two out of two as she eased past the always brave Bec Connolly by way of a dominant 60-54 points decision.
Connolly gave her usual performance but was outclassed by a fighter who sent out another little warning to her future opponents. Nicolson was seriously impressive, Connolly has been beaten many times before, but even she must have thought I haven’t come across a style like this before. It is difficult to beat someone if you can’t lay a glove on them. Better fighters than Connolly will find the same problem she had tonight.
Nicolson has a touch of class about her, gliding in and out of harms way, and landing her own shots seemingly at will. It’s how you win fights like this that indicate how far a prospect will go. On this performance, the slick southpaw will go far.
The Australian will be her own worse self-critic and will look to improve further as her career advances. The amateur pedigree promised plenty and after just two fights as a professional you can see why there is so much hype around her. Nicolson will be an extremely difficult fighter to beat.
