Pacquiao vs Broner Heads to ITV
By Ben Gibson
ITV have secured a knockout deal with PBC which allows them to show two world title fights in January. In the new year ITV 4 will be showing British boxing fans two world title fights on back to back weekends. The first will see Caleb Plant take on Jose Uzcategui in a hope to win the IBF super middleweight world championship.
Plant (17-0) will be challenging for the title in the Microsoft Centre in Los Angeles on the 13 January. This is then followed by a much anticipated fight between Manny ‘Pac Man’ Pacquiao who takes on Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner in defence of his WBA world welterweight Title in Las Vegas.
These fights will be paired with their respected undercards which include Badou Jack, who will be featuring on the Pacquiao vs Broner undercard. Jack will be aiming to defeat Marcus Browne for the WBA Interim light heavyweight title which makes this an even more impressive event for ITV.
For all of PBC’s events in the UK, Poxon Sports has been confirmed as the exclusive promoter for the events. Richard Poxon of Poxon Sports, said:
“This is an incredible opportunity for boxing and sports fans. I’m looking forward to promoting all the fantastic PBC events in the UK on ITV. The quality of these first two free to air events should show UK fans exactly what they can expect to see over the length of this new deal, and they can expect more news in the following days about the first PBC UK boxing event.”
