The PPV Dilemma On December 22nd
December 22nd gives boxing fans somewhat of a dilemma. Sky Box Office are giving us the Dillian Whyte Dereck Chisora rematch but on the same night Frank Warren has Josh Warrington against Carl Frampton, also on Box Office on the rival BT platform.
We can argue with much justification that both fights really shouldn’t be on PPV, especially in an already packed month for PPV offerings, but they are and fans will be forced to choose which fight to purchase.
The Whyte Chisora rematch is of much importance to the heavyweight division, and the winner is almost certain to get a date with Anthony Joshua in April.
But for me, the better and the fight with more immediate importance is Warrington vs Frampton. Warrington is defending his IBF featherweight title against Frampton, who if he loses, it could very well mean the end of a fabulous career.
December will be a very expensive month for fight fans and I do wonder if they are milking the cash cow a little too often. But the fight of choice for me, will be the one in Manchester.
