Sarah Murphy: “I would love nothing more than to be on the Katie Taylor card.”

I first interviewed Sarah Murphy last August, just prior to her professional debut. Murphy had her maiden ring walk in the paid ranks a few months later, and got her pro career off to a promising start with an emphatic four-round points victory over Kerry Orton in Dublin. Murphy didn’t drop a round. A 40-36 scorecard gave the lightweight hopeful the perfect start in her new world. In many ways, a new beginning.

2026 has been one of activity. Three fights. Three wins. Katherine Quintana, Joanna Fraszczak, and Eva Cantos all found Murphy too good for her. Only Cantos has taken a round off her.

Murphy is seemingly not planning on slowing down anytime soon. Fight number five is already locked in. “I’m staying very active this year,” Murphy told FightPost. “I’ll be back out again on the 10th July at Leopardstown Racecourse and then again in September. The process behind it all is to get as much experience as possible and to build my record.”

Activity and getting experience are key for any up-and-coming fighter. Murphy understands that. “I am hoping to have two or three more fights before the end of the year and to be moving up in the rounds from now on.”

By the end of the year, the ambitious 19-year-old wants to be in title contention. Or better. “I want to be going into next year with a title,” Murphy says. “Or my first fight of 2027, to be a title fight.”

After her fight in July, as she says, a fight in September is being targeted. One show in particular stands out. Katie Taylor will have her farewell fight on September 5th at Croke Park. Murphy wants to be on that card.

“I would love nothing more than to be on the Katie Taylor card, and I think it’s only right for me to be on that show with me being Ireland’s youngest ever female professional boxer. To be on a card with the greatest of all time. Katie has to give her torch to someone, and I am willing to take that for her.”

The ambitions are incredibly high for Sarah Murphy. “The ultimate end goal for my career would be to become a multiple-weight world champion and become the undisputed champion. I won’t be stopping until I get that. I know there is a lot of work that has to be done between now and then, but I’m ready for whatever gets put in front of me. The team and I have a plan, and we are gonna do everything in our power to achieve that plan.”
