Ringside Report: Adam Azim Blows Away Steve Claggett in Three Rounds

Adam Azim wasted little time in extending his unbeaten record on Saturday night at the Wembley Arena in London live on BBC Two. Azim stopped the incredibly tough Canadian in three rounds in another demonstration of his undoubted ability.

Azim was unleashing punch after punch on Claggett, and the referee decided enough was enough at the 1:13 point of the round. Claggett, his face already a bloody mess, was dropped heavily in the 2nd round. Arguably, the bell saved the 36-year-old veteran. But Azim would get the finish in the very next round.

Claggett came to fight and didn’t go over easily. He soaked up plenty from the surging star in front of him. Azim landed his uppercut frequently. Body shots were finding their mark from the opening seconds. He was sharper. And just better. But Claggett kept coming. He finished on his feet. But Azim was just too good for him on a night when he sent a little reminder to his rivals.

Azim (15-0) was electrifying in becoming only the second fighter to stop Claggett. The Canadian hasn’t been stopped since 2011. It was some performance. Azim was content to stay in the pocket, but when he gave himself space, he looked different class. But, in truth, Azim could have won anyway he wanted.

The unbeaten 24-year-old super-lightweight will now target a world title. On this form, he will take some stopping.
