Lilyella Craw Seaman: “I’m ready to fight anyone, and I want to get to the top.”

Lilyella Craw Seaman: “I’m ready to fight anyone, and I want to get to the top.”

Lilyella Craw Seaman ended a four-year boxing hiatus late last year, and after three fights, her comeback is starting to take shape. On Saturday night, Seaman made the trip to the iconic York Hall and defeated Zoe Hunte-Smith over eight rounds. It was hard-earned, but Seaman emerged victorious courtesy of a 77-75 scorecard. The win earned Seaman the Commonwealth International super-lightweight title.

The victory of Hunte-Smith should allow Seaman the opportunity to move forward with her reignited boxing career. The 26-year-old is now unbeaten in five fights and has potential domestic opposition waiting for her.

The unbeaten Gemma Richardson, a recent winner on the first-ever MVP show on UK soil, could be an intriguing option for Seaman. Hannah Robinson, who claimed the Commonwealth Silver and IBF European super-lightweight titles last weekend, is another possibility for Seaman. Richardson and Robinson are most definitely fights of interest to Seaman. “I’m ready to fight anyone, and I want to get to the top, and Gemma and Hannah are the next step to achieve what I want.”

Seaman is open to fighting anyone. “I’m happy to take 50/50 fights.” I definitely still need to gain some more experience, but I want the big fights.”

“I have missed fighting,” Craw-Seaman told me last year just before she made her comeback. “There is no other feeling like it, is there? I have enjoyed my time away from it, but I just feel I am 26 now, it’s now or never, to actually make this my life.”

Seaman has plenty of options out there for her. But crucially, she has the desire to make something out of her boxing career. She lost four years of her career for a variety of reasons. But she fully intends to make up for lost time.
