Katie Healy Moves to 4-0 In Rotherham
Wolverhampton’s Katie Healy improved her resume to 4-0 in Rotherham this afternoon on her latest appearance in front of the Fightzone cameras. Healy will still enjoy her normal post-fight routine pizza offering this evening, but there will be some semblance of relief after a difficult Sunday afternoon fight experience in South Yorkshire.
The Hungarian Gabriella Mezei presented many problems for the unbeaten prospect, the experienced road warrior more than knows her way around a boxing ring, and Healy was given much food for thought and will have learned plenty from the 40 fight veteran.
Healy overcame a lingering cold and a difficult build-up to her latest appearance after her switch to boxing from kickboxing. Healy got the nod by virtue of a tight but fair 58-57 scorecard in a fight scheduled for 6 rounds. In many ways, it was the toughest assignment so far in her young career, Healy was far from her best in her first fight since December, but despite the tightness of the victory, the transaction to boxing is going in the right direction.
At just 23, there is no rush in the development of the bantamweight prospect, Healy has time on her side. Trained by Gavin Burrows and a stablemate of Rachel Ball, Healy is in good hands and will look to stay busy for the remainder of the year as she looks to replicate her world title success from her time in kickboxing.
