Muhammad Mokaev Downplays Blaine O’Driscoll Challenge: “Abdul Hussein is tougher than him”
One of the most anticipated bouts of BRAVE CF 54, in Poland, is the catchweight featured bout between two of the biggest young stars in MMA: Muhammad Mokaev and Blaine O’Driscoll. The war of words before the two prodigies is intensifying as the fight is getting closer and it was Mokaev who fired the last shot.
Questioned if O’Driscoll will represent the toughest challenge in his professional career so far, Mokaev dismissed the upcoming opponent as his most difficult adversary and praised a previous one, the fellow former IMMAF world champion Abdul Hussein.
“I wouldn’t say (he’s the) toughest because I think Abdoul Hussein was tougher than Blaine, grappling-wise”, he said, acknowledging ABBA’s credentials on the ground.
But that doesn’t mean Mokaev thinks O’Driscoll isn’t a worthy opponent. In fact, “The Punisher” took some time to praise all the Irish fighters’ lineage.
“Of course, Blaine is a tough guy, I fought some Irish guys who are tough guys and I know Blaine is going to fight the same as them, like all Irish guys do”, he finished.
BRAVE CF 54 takes place on September 25, in Konin, Poland. The event, held in association with Galana Exclusive Championship, will be headlined by the Lightweight world title bout between the champion Amin Ayoub and the challenger Ahmed Amir.
