BCB Promotions Sign Ryan Kelly
BCB Promotions are delighted to confirm that Ryan Kelly has signed a management contract with our stable.
The 27 year-old – 14-3 – first turned professional in 2015 and racked up 8 victories before coming out on the wrong side of a Fight of the Year contest with then BCB fighter, Adam Harper. Kelly quickly regrouped and was crowned Midlands Area Super Welterweight Champion with a stoppage victory over Owen Jobburn in 2018. His only other two losses have been against Michael McKinson and Hamsah Sheeraz for the World Boxing Council International Silver Title and World Boxing Organisation European Title respectively.
After that defeat to Sheeraz, ‘Ruthless’ moved to Dubai after being offered a job at the ‘Real Boxing Only’ Gym at the beginning of 2020.
However, after recently becoming a father to daughter, Frankee, he and wife Abigail have moved back to the UK and the Birmingham boxer is ready to make up for lost time.
“I’m delighted to be back,” Kelly told bcb-promotions.com. “Delighted to not only be back in the UK but also back boxing and really pleased to have signed with BCB Promotions.
“I’ve been working away in the gym now since I returned home in February. I’m now training with John Costello, who was my first ever boxing coach from the age of 9. I think with John’s knowledge and belief we can really do something as a team. I couldn’t be in a better place.
“I moved out to Dubai with my wife for a job I was offered in at Real Boxing Only. It was a great experience and we met some amazing people, however my boxing was put on hold a bit.
“As they say, I was out of sight; out of mind.
“That was a huge part of coming back but the main reason was that we were expecting a baby and we didn’t want to raise a family over there so decided it was best to come home.
“Our beautiful daughter, Frankee, is here now. It is the best feeling in the world and she has given me even more incentive to go out there and win some major titles.
“Signing a deal with BCB has been on my mind for a while now and in doing so I feel it will just excel my career. Errol (Johnson) is a top guy and I believe he will look after me and help guide me to become a solid champion.”
“We are delighted to welcome Ryan to the team,” added Head of Boxing at BCB, Errol Johnson. “He is a real talent who has been out of the ring for a little while but has been working hard behind the scenes with John Costello.
“We’re looking at getting him back in action very soon. He has the potential to achieve major titles in the sport and that’s what we want to deliver for him.”
