Boxing: A Look At The World Heavyweight Scene

Boxing: A Look At The World Heavyweight Scene

By Henry Walter

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury looks likely to take place this year and has the potential to be one of the biggest events in British sporting history.

Boxing’s heavyweight division looks the healthiest that it has looked for many years, with British fighters right at the sharp end of the division.

Below I have listed my top ten fighters in the division, along with five who I feel could gate-crash that top ten in the near future. I have also listed five heavyweight fights I would most like to see in 2021:

1: Anthony Joshua 24-1
2: Tyson Fury 30-0-1
3: Andy Ruiz 33-2
4: Deontay Wilder 42-1-1
5: Alexander Povetkin 36-2-1
6: Michael Hunter 19-1-1
7: Dillian Whyte 27-2
8: Joseph Parker 27-2
9: Oleksandr Usyk 18-0
10: Joe Joyce 12-0

With the division looking so strong it will be a herculean challenge for any fighter to break into the current top ten rankings but here are five to watch for the future:

1: Arslanbek Makmudov 11-0
2: Frank Sanchez 17-0-0-1
3: Efe Ajaba 14-0
4: Daniel Dubois 15-1
5: Tony Yoka 9-0

There are a multitude of great potential heavyweight fights that can be made this year. Here are the five I would most like to see:

1: Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury
2: Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk
3: Deontay Wilder vs Andy Ruiz
4: Michael Hunter vs Alexander Povetkin
5: Joe Joyce vs Oleksandr Usyk
