Bellator Paris Preview: Michael Page vs Ross Houston
By Dan McConnell
History will be made this weekend in Paris as Bellator has the honours of holding the first ever mixed martial arts event in France.
After a successful two-week stint in Milan, Bellator and President Scott Coker continue their European series with another incredible fight card. It will be the first major event in France following the legalisation of MMA in the country that came into effect at the start of January.
It will be England vs Scotland in France as the ever-exiting Michael ‘Venom’ Page (17-1) takes on former Cage Warriors welterweight champion Ross ‘The Hitman’ Houston (8-0) in the main-event inside the Accor Arena this Saturday night.
MVP is riding a three-fight win streak over Richard Kiely, Giovanni Melillo and Shinsho Anzai after suffering that shock loss to former welterweight king Douglas Lima back in May 2019.
While the debuting Ross Houston is currently unbeaten, but hasn’t fought since that incredible blood-bath with Nicholas Dalby at Cage Warriors Night of Champions in June 2019.
A heavyweight clash between France’s Cheick Kongo (30-10) and American Timothy Johnson (14-6) also features as the second main-event due to the cards structure.
A featherweight bout between Arbi Mezhidov (13-3) and former Ultimate Fighter prospect Saul Rogers (13-3).
While Newcastle’s Ryan Scope (10-3) takes on Germany’s Alan Omer (23-5) and former Cage Warriors featherweight champion Mads Burnell (13-3) will make his promotional debut against Bosnian Darko Banovic (17-7).
The promotion is splitting up its upcoming card to air on various platforms which will consist of 12 fights and two headliners.
The event also marks a notable moment for the promotion in the UK with Bellator officials confirming that the full Bellator 248 card will be shown live on BBC iPlayer. A historic night for the growth of European mixed martial arts.
