The UFC continues its show’s from the UFC Apex arena in Las Vegas this Saturday night. Number 3 ranked lightweight in the world will take on the 5th ranked fighter in the division.

A lightweight main-event between former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier (25-6) and top contender Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker (20-8) is certain to deliver destruction and violence.

Poirier is stepping inside the octagon after suffering defeat last time out to 155-pound phenom Khabib Nurmagomedov in September 2019. At the age of 31, the Louisiana native has fought a who’s who throughout his already storied career.

From the WEC-UFC merger in 2011 ‘The Diamond’ has beaten the likes of former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway twice, former UFC Lightweight champions Anthony Pettis and Eddie Alvarez. As well as current interim 155-pound title holder Justin Gaethje.

It’s fitting that Poirier who last fought in Abu Dhabi, will conclude the final UFC Apex card this weekend, ahead of the promotion taking their ‘Fight Island’ to Abu Dhabi for the rest of this year.

While his opponent Dan Hooker is one of the most dangerous strikers in the entire division, and has found success from moving up to the 155-pound division.

Riding a 3 fight win streak over James Vick, Al Iaquinta and UFC commentator Paul Felder. The New Zealander intends to continue his fine form and secure the biggest victory of his career to date!

In the co-main event, explosive striker ‘Platnium’ Mike Perry (13-6) looks to get back to winning ways after suffering two defeats in a row to Vincente Luque and Geoff Neal.

Perry is one of the most unique and entertaining fighters on the UFC’s roster, but has all the pressure on his shoulders to avoid a third successive loss.

Perry will face welterweight contender Micky Gall (6-2) who was once seen as one of the most promising talents on the roster. Gall has notable wins over Sage Northcutt and CM Punk, and takes a huge step up in competition on Saturday night.

Other exciting bouts on the card see Gian Villante, who is a training partner of former middleweight champ Chris Weidman, make his heavyweight debut against Maurice Greene.

Also former Ultimate Fighter contender Luis Pena who trains out of AKA in California, faces opponent Kharma Worthy in a lightweight contest.
