Conor McGregor & Paul Felder: The Feud Escalates
By Ross Markey
Paul Felder takes on Dan Hooker tomorrow night in the main event of UFC Fight Night Auckland in a pivotal lightweight clash. In the background, a rivalry has been steadily brewing between surging contender, Felder, and former two-weight world champion, Conor McGregor.
The Philidelphia native has managed two consecutive victories, and a triumph over Hooker would mark a sixth straight win over lightweight competition. Felder is fast approaching title contention, similarly to McGregor – following his forty-second knockout win over Donald Cerrone in January at UFC 246.
The Dubliner has been linked with a number of matchups at 155-pounds ever since his return to the win-column and issued a callout to Felder in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan; “Any one of these little mouthy fools can get, even that little fool at the desk.”
McGregor, 31, continued his barrage of verbal insults at Felder on Twitter last night. When asked by a fan, if Felder were to meet with McGregor in the future, would he still call himself ‘The Irish Dragon’, the Roufusport trainee replied, “Wtf wouldn’t I?”. McGregor then interjected and aimed a barb at Felder directly. “The Felders are German-English. Shut up you ginger-German twat.”
Could a victory over Dan Hooker propel Paul Felder toward a title opportunity – or possibly a matchup with former lightweight and featherweight champion, Conor McGregor?
