The promotion will make it’s return to Irish shores on August 15th.

On August 15th. – The Ultimate Fighting Championship will make it’s return to Dublin, Ireland, according to an official press release from the promotion. The event billed as a ‘Fight Night’ will mark the North American based organization’s fourth trip to the capital.

The promotion first featured in Dublin back at UFC 93 in 2009, in an event headlined by a light heavyweight pairing between Dan Henderson and Rich Franklin. In 2014, the promotion returned to The 02 Arena, with a featherweight matchup between former two-weight world champion, Conor McGregor, and Diego Brandao taking headlining status. The following year, UFC Fight Night Dublin was headlined by a flyweight pairing between Paddy Holohan, and Louis Smolka.

UFC official David Shaw commented on the promotion’s return to the Emerald Isle.

“We kicked off the year with a phenomenal comeback from Conor McGregor at UFC 246, and now we are thrilled to announce our return to Ireland after four-years. With Irish fans amongst the most passionate UFC supporters in the world, and Dublin being such an iconic global city, we can’t wait to put on another world-class event for our fans here.”

While no bouts have yet to be announced by the promotion – speculation is already ramping up in regards to who could possibly headline the summer event. Former lightweight and featherweight champion, McGregor has called for a hometown event for some time now, particularly in Croke Park, but a lightweight title-eliminator against either Justin Gaehtje, or previous foes, Nate Diaz, and Dustin Poirier would go down a treat with the local crowd.

Other potential names in line for an appearance at the event, is Cage Warriors finisher, Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee. The Northern Ireland native will compete for the vacant welterweight championship in Belfast in May – and with a solid performance, could find himself as the latest Cage Warriors talent to make the leap to the UFC.

Tickets for the event will go on sale on June 26th.
