Bellator Hawaii Double Header This Weekend

Bellator Hawaii Double Header This Weekend

By Dan McConnell

After a few weeks lay-off, Bellator MMA returns this weekend with not one but two events this upcoming Friday and Saturday night!

The promotion will return to the shores of Hawaii inside the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii.

On Friday night MMA veteran Josh Barnett (35-8) will make his highly-anticipated Bellator debut against Brazilian Ronny Markes (19-7) in the main-event.

Also on this Friday card features a women’s flyweight fight between Alejandra Lara (8-3) and Veta Artega (5-3) for a chance to stake a claim at the 125-pound title, which is being defended on Saturday night.

As mentioned, on Saturday at Bellator 236 the women’s flyweight title will be on the line, when hometown hero Ilima-Lei MacFarlane (10-0) puts her undefeated record as well as 125-pound title up for grabs. Her opponent is number one contender in England’s Kate Jackson (11-3-1) who looks to upset the champion in her own back yard.

In the co-main event the quarter-finals of the Bellator featherweight Grand Prix will begin.

The man with the longest winning streak in promotional history AJ McKee (15-0) takes on the exciting Derek Campos (20-9). Who can be the first man to book their place in the last four?

Also Neiman Gracie (9-1) looks to get back in the win column, after suffering his first professional defeat last time out to Rory MacDonald in the semis of the welterweight tournament back in July. He will face the challenge of Kiichi Kunimoto (20-8-2).

Also on the main card inside the Blaisdell Arena, an-all Brazilian bout between Juliana Vasquez (9-0) and Bruna Ellen (5-2) features. Can the unbeaten Vasquez put her name in the conversation for a future fight against the champion MacFarlane?

Bellator will hope to provide the Hawaiian fans with an excellent double header weekend of action, and build momentum for Bellator Japan-Fedor v Rampage next Saturday night! This is their annual cross-over card with Japanese promotion Rizin.

Bellator 237-MacFarlane v Jackson will stream live exclusively on the DAZN app, with the prelims action steaming free on the Bellator app!
