Dignum Out to Kick Down Door in Title Fight
Undefeated former Team GB star Danny Dignum aims to blast Conrad Cummings aside and kickstart a cascade of titles.
The popular Essex southpaw takes on Belfast-based Conrad Cummings for the WBO European middleweight title on Saturday’s SOLD OUT #MTKFightNight at York Hall; live on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank and on iFL TV worldwide.
While Dignum (11-0, 5 KOs) accepts his visitor (17-3-1, 7 KOs) – who has twice held this title – represents a significant step up in grade, he’s confident of announcing himself as a threat to all at 160lbs.
Dignum said: “Conrad Cummings is a very good fighter. He had a great amateur career and also a very good professional career. I rate him.
“It’s another step up in class for me, no doubt about it, but I’m going to show everyone what I’m about.
“It’s going to be absolutely buzzing in there. I’ll be bringing a very big crowd with me on the night and I know the place has sold out, so it’s going to be a special atmosphere.
“It can open the door to me for other titles but I’ve not really thought about it because I’m focused on this one. Once I get this out the way then I’ll sit down with my team and see what’s next.
“These shows are getting bigger and bigger and there’s much more to come. I saw a lot of them are selling out recently so I can see that there’ll be even bigger fights and at even bigger venues to come. I can’t wait to be a part of it all.”
