Unbeaten lightweight Alfie Price reckons sparring recent sparring with world champions can only accelerate his progression in the sport.

Price, 25, has been a regular sparring partner for the likes of Josh Taylor and Luke Campbell ahead of his much-anticipated Southern Area title fight against Jeff Ofori.

He currently boasts an immaculate record in the sport, winning all six of his professional bouts ahead of his first claim for a title.

However, the prospect is no stranger to winning titles, being victorious in numerous tournaments including a European Bronze medal, GB Championships gold and an incredible seven national titles.

He has been hailed as the “English Lomachenko” on social media following his sparring sessions with Campbell ahead of the Olympian’s fight with the pound-for-pound number one.

The sparring was so good, Campbell’s trainer Shane McGuigan also enquired about the youngsters availability to help stablemate Josh Taylor prepare for his world title defence.

And Price believes that the opportunity has lit a fire in him and can only hold him in good stead going forward.

“Getting in the ring with those boys is something else, but let me tell you now, the spars were more than even,” he said.

“I loved every moment of it and I know that Shane and Barry [McGuigan] were very happy with the work I was giving out too.

“It’s been a quality experience, it’s shown me what it is like at the top level but more importantly has shown me I can get there.

“I know what I need to do and starting on Friday, I’ll put on a show and show everyone there’s levels to this.”

The former Team GB member will face tough competition when he takes on current Southern Area Champion Jeff Ofori as part of a Mo Prior show this Friday.

Ofori is also unbeaten and slightly more experienced after winning the title from Hammersmith’s Jumaane Camero a year ago.

But Price is adamant the experience of Ofori won’t matter come fight night.

He finished: “I know how good I am, I have fought a lot of tough journeyman but in Jeff I know he’s going to come and think he will do me.

“But I am expecting him to be fluttered with my speed, he’ll walk into everything and I am going to put on a lesson. It’ll be easy work mark my words.
