Day: Activity the Key Factor vs. Adolphe
Shaquille Day insists his frequent activity along with Louis Adolphe’s lack of recent fights will be the difference maker when they clash for the vacant Southern Area welterweight title on Saturday’s huge #MTKFightNight at the Brentwood Centre.
Unbeaten Day (12-0, 2 KOs) meets Adolphe (10-1, 1 KO) live on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank and also live on iFL TV. It will be Day’s third fight of 2019, while Adolphe hasn’t competed since last November, and Day plans to exploit that this weekend.
Day said: “My activity since signing with MTK Global has been unbelievable. It’s been great to fight every two months and that activity will be the difference in this fight. I’ve kept the consistency going and that is key.
“I’ve stayed active which is the best way, and a happy fighter is an active fighter. Training has been unbelievable for this camp and I’m very excited to be fighting for my first title as a professional.
“I’ve had 12 fights in my career and have been waiting years for this opportunity. I’ve sparred 100’s of rounds in the gym and there is no doubt in the camp whatsoever that I’ve done everything I need.
“Whatever he brings I’m going to be ready for it. We can go forwards or backwards or whatever he wants, to we’ll see what happens on the night and work from there. I’m mentally prepared and focused, and nothing can stop me.”
Day vs. Adolphe is part of a massive card on Friday, that includes a WBO European welterweight showdown between world-ranked welterweight Michael McKinson and dangerous Russian Evgeny Pavko along with Chantelle Cameron’s WBC Silver and WBC world title final eliminator battle with Anisha Basheel.
A packed undercard at the Brentwood Centre also features the likes of Jay Whelan, Harlem Eubank, Josh Adewale, Jack Martin and many more.
