Fightpost Team Predictions:
Nathan Gorman vs Daniel Dubois
By Josh Wooler
Daniel Dubois (11-0, 10KO) has really caught the eye in his career thus far, dispatching ten of his eleven opponents inside the distance and has been tipped by many to go on to be a heavyweight great.
Nathan Gorman meanwhile, has only recently been thrust into the spotlight after wins over Kevin Johnson and Razvan Cojanu stoked up an appetite for Saturday’s showdown with Dubois, who has himself defeated the two same fighters.
Despite both going the distance with Johnson, their respective performances against Cojanu provide a greater insight into how the fight will play out. Gorman, who is a cousin to Tyson and Hughie Fury, went the distance with the Romanian in a one-sided affair, whereas Dubois destroyed the former world title challenger in a couple of rounds.
I think Dubois will have to do something similar on Saturday night, the longer the fight goes on the more Gorman will begin to frustrate his opponent.
Dubois goes into the fight as the bookies’ favourite and many would favour him based on his superior physique alone – although lessons should be learned from Andy Ruiz’s win over Anthony Joshua.
Personally, I think Gorman will do enough to survive the early rounds and will go on to outpoint him, although I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Dubois get the stoppage.
The FightPost team are also split on the outcome of the fight, as you’ll see below.
However, whatever happens on Saturday, both fighters should be commended for taking each other on. It is rare nowadays to see two young, ambitious and undefeated boxers choose to compete for a British title.
