FightPost Prediction League: Smith vs Eggington – Fowler vs Fitzgerald

By Josh Wooler

This weekend’s FightPost Prediction League will be centred around the Matchroom card at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena with a domestic double-header featuring Anthony Fowler’s grudge match with Scott Fitzgerald and headlined by Liam Smith’s bout with Sam Eggington.

North West rivals Fowler and Fitzgerald will finally meet in the ring after months of trading insults but there is more than just pride and unbeaten records at stake as the winner is expected to go on and challenge Ted Cheeseman for his British light middleweight title next.

For Liam Smith, this will be his first contest since his lopsided, yet spirited, defeat at the hands of WBO light middleweight champion Jaime Munguia back in July whereas Eggington will be hoping to pull off the upset and get his topsy-turvy career back on track after a shock second round defeat at the hands of the little-known Tanzanian Hassan Mwakinyo in September.

There has been a clean sweep of picks from the FightPost team, with everybody choosing the favourite in each bout and most expecting it to come inside the distance.
