Sky Sports add Bellator 216 and 217 full televised broadcasts to on demand platform
Full fight video replays from the first two televised Bellator US and international events have been made available on demand, meaning Sky Sports subscribers in the UK and Ireland can relive all the action from the televised main card broadcast through their TV platform on the Sky Sports mobile app and on Sky Go.
In the first televised event, Bellator 216: MVP vs. Daley, which took place on Saturday, February 16 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, two giants of British MMA collided in the main event with Michael “Venom” Page edging a tactical, unanimous decision win over long-term rival Paul Daley.
Elsewhere on the night, Mirko Cro Cop and Roy Nelson went the distance in the co-main event, with Bellator newcomer Cro Cop earning the decision victory. Meanwhile, rising star and Taekwondo master Valerie Loureda lived up to her billing on her Bellator MMA debut by making short work of Colby Fletcher and securing a first-round knockout victory.
Sky Sports customers can also relive all the action from Bellator 217: Gallagher vs. Graham, which took place at a sold out 3Arena in Dublin on Saturday, February 23.
In the main event, hometown favourite James Gallagher defeated Steven Graham in style, securing a submission win in the first round. Elsewhere in the biggest grudge match in Irish MMA history, Myles Price took a closely-fought decision win over Peter Quelley.
There were also standout wins for SBG pair Kiefer Crosbie, who won via submission in the first round, and Charlie Ward, who secured a spectacular knockout in just 34 seconds on what was an unforgettable night of live MMA action.
The next televised Bellator event on Sky Sports will take place on Friday, March 22, when the Bellator cage heads to Thackerville, Oklahoma for Bellator 218: Sanchez vs Grimshaw. The event will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Action, bringing Bellator’s world class roster of athletes and action-packed fight cards to British households nationwide.
David Green, Head of Bellator Europe, said: “It’s been a great start to our partnership with Sky Sports and the viewing figures have been hugely encouraging. The first two events televised live on Sky Sports showcased everything great about MMA: amazing fights, huge upsets and international stars competing on the biggest stage in front of sell-out arenas.”
He added: “Everyone in MMA knows it’s an exciting sport but the Bellator offering is very entertaining and I’m confident that the viewers will continue on this journey with us as we lead the charge in the UK.”
With wall-to-wall live MMA action throughout the rest of 2019, there is plenty to stay up to date with as Bellator coverage lands across Sky Sports TV and online platforms.
