Cage Warriors 100: Preview

Cage Warriors 100: Preview

By Dan McConnell

This Saturday the 8th of December Cage Warriors will host their biggest ever event inside the Viola Arena, Cardiff. Cage Warriors 100 is a huge milestone card that has it all for fight fans. We will see two championship fights, exciting experienced fighters and also intriguing new-comers to the promotion.

In their 16 year history Cage Warriors is one of the few top promotions to take their events abroad, travelling throughout countries in Europe, North America and the Middle East. The promotion has close links to the UFC and has produced top talent such as Conor McGregor, Michael Bisping, Gegard Mousasi and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

In the main-event we have a bantamweight title fight where two undefeated fighters face off. Champion and Cardiff-native Jack ‘The Tank’ Shore (9-0) puts his title on the line against Mike ‘Airlines’ Ekundayo (7-0) who looks to ruin Shore’s homecoming and take away his title on home soil.

In the co-main event we see the Cage Warriors featherweight title on the line. Team Renegades Aiden Lee (7-2) will face the experienced Dean Trueman (9-4) in the final of the CW featherweight tournament to determine who will be the new Cage Warriors 145-pound champion.

Also on the card UFC veteran and former CW welterweight champion Nicolas Dalby (15-3) takes on SBG Ireland’s Phillip Mulpeter (9-5) with both men fighting off the back of big wins earlier in the year. Also the man to feature in fight of the year 2017 with former CW bantamweight champion now turned UFC star Nathaniel Wood, Josh Reed (7-2) will take on unbeaten Scott Malone (4-0).

There is a list of newly signed former BAMMA champions also on the card. Former BAMMA welterweight champion Alex ‘Da Killa’ Lohore (16-3) faces former BAMMA lightweight champion Tim Barnett (5-1-1). Linked to one of these men due to their history in Barnett, is former Northern-Irish BAMMA lightweight champion Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee (7-2-1) who faces experienced lightweight Jefferson George (7-6) looking to make his mark within his new promotion. Also CW 94 co-main eventer Jai Herbert (6-1) faces exciting Northern-Irish man from Fight Academy Ireland Joe Mc Colgan (4-1).
