UFC Fight Night 141: Yadong v Morales
By Ben Jessop
With November the 25th looming, I’ve decided to delve into the details of one of my most anticipated fights of the evening – Yadong v Morales. Both fighters are showing real potential as contenders within the UFC with strong track records to back up the charismatic personalities that shine through past events.
Song ‘The Terminator’ Yadong will be fighting in his own backyard as the UFC takes Beijing by storm, boasting a five fight win streak, including an incredible KO using a break clinch elbow to defeat Felipe Arantas earlier this year at Fight Night 132 in Singapore, and a guillotine choke to defeat Bharat Khandare at UFC 122 a year ago to the date – Yadong will be determined to continue his winning campaign.
Yadong will be entering the contest as a strong favourite and holds an impressive record of 12-3-0-2NC with most wins coming from unanimous decision, he’ll be looking to hold off Morales until the later rounds before attempting to put him away.
Vince ‘Vandetta’ Morales will be making his UFC debut in this contest after battling his way through the ranks with Front Street Fights.
This will be Morales’ fourth fight of 2018, and his first ever outside of North America, having won two and lost one, he faces by far his toughest opponent yet and will be looking to prove his worth to the UFC.
Morales who has a 8-2 record saw his win streak stopped by Domingo Pilarte via a rear naked choke hold back in July 2018 on Dana White’s Contender Series. Prior to this, he’d successfully finished four fights via TKO/KO and one via submission against the likes of Andrew Cruz at FSF10 and Brandon Hempleton at FSF15. Morales’ stand up game proves to be his most dangerous attribute with an impressive 71% KO record and with only one fight going to the distance, he’ll be looking to finish Yadong in the early rounds.
This fight may not get the traction it deserves but could easily be one of the best fights of the night – whoever rules victorious will be a real one to watch going forwards.
