Josh Taylor Shines In Glasgow

Ryan Martin is almost certainly a much better fighter than he showed in Glasgow, but he found the occasion and much more importantly Josh Taylor far too much for him.

Martin lost his unbeaten record while Taylor maintained his, in an almost punch perfect performance. Showing maturity beyond his now 14 fight pro career, Taylor dominated from the start and Martin only fleetingly showed glimpses of his talent.

Taylor won the opening 6 rounds before Martin finally got something going in the 7th, ironically his best round of an otherwise one-sided contest before the sudden ending.

Martin then got caught around the back of the head and he seemed to crumble a little too easily and after a brief flurry of punches the fight was halted soon after.

Scotland has produced many a great champion over the years but Taylor could be the best of the lot and as he moves forward to the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series super-lightweight tournament it will take a very good man to beat him.

Taylor improves to 14-0, Martin drops to 22-1.
