Elkins vs Lamas Set For Argentina
By Dylan Jones
The UFC have just announced that Darren ‘The Damage’ Elkins (24-6) will take on Ricardo ‘The Bully’ Lamas (18-7) in the co-headliner of the UFCs first event in Argentina, where we will see Neil Magny headline against Santiago Ponzinibbio.
Both fighters are coming off losses, Elkins most recently losing to rising star Alexander Volkanovski (18-1) who increased his win streak to 15 when he defeated Elkins at UFC Fight Night 133 this past June.
Lamas however, is coming off of a 2 fight losing streak, losing to Josh Emmett (13-2) via KO at UFC On Fox 26, and most recently losing via decision to Mirsad Bektic (13-1) at UFC 225, another loss would not fair well for his career as he is in the later stages of his fighting career.
The two featherweight veterans will fight on November 17th, both fighters will turn up looking to regain some much needed momentum after coming off their recent losses.
This is Elkins’s 3rd bout of the year, earlier this year he took on Alexander Volkanovski (as previously stated) and Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 124 in January, a fight in which he won via submission.
Both fighters are on the official UFC Featherweight rankings, where they take the ranks of #13 (Elkins) and #12 (Lamas) respectively, although this fight may not do much for the rankings, it will definitely be a major confidence booster and a way to regain momentum they previously had.
Tickets for this event are available now on the UFCs official website, other noticeable bouts announced for this card are:
Neil Magny vs Santiago Ponzinibbio
Khalil Rountree Jr vs Johnny Walker
Tom Breese vs Cezar Ferreira
Devin Powell vs Claudio Puelles
