Tom Duquesnoy vs Nathaniel Wood For UFC 232

By Dylan Jones

On the 18th of October, it was announced that the exciting UFC 135lb prospect, former BAMMA featherweight & bantamweight champion Tom ‘Fire Kid’ Duquesnoy (16-2) would be taking on the former Cage Warrior bantamweight champion Nathaniel ‘The Prospect’ Wood (14-3).

The two exciting prospects will face each other at UFC 232, on December 29th at the T-Mobile arena, Las Vegas.

Wood, who is coming off his first win in the UFC after signing in April, is riding a 6-fight winning streak, whilst Duquesnoy is only on a 1-fight streak, since losing to Cody Stamann at UFC 216 via Decision.

Both men are former champions in what most would say are the two most popular MMA promotions in the UK, so if you are a fan of MMA outside of the UFC, this fight is definitely one to watch.

This will be Nathaniel Woods 2nd fight in the UFC, his first being in June at UFC Fight Night 131, where he defeated Johnny Eduardo (28-12) via D’Arce choke, if he secures yet another win in this bout, it will most likely skyrocket him towards gaining a spot in the UFC Rankings.

Duquesnoy however is also preparing for his 2nd UFC bout of the year, although he has been in the UFC for a longer period of time, signing with the promotion back in January of 2017, having 3 fights since then, going 2-1, he is most recently coming off a decision win over Terrion Ware at UFC Fight Night 127.

If Duquesnoy can secure the win then his career gains further momentum.

There is a lot on the line in this matchup, and definitely one that fellow UK MMA fans can look forward to, two former champions fighting for their honour at UFC 232.
