Tysie Gallagher: “I felt like my world was crushed.”

Tysie Gallagher hasn’t had much luck of late. Fights have been incredibly hard to come by for the British and Commonwealth super-bantamweight champion. Gallagher is talented; in truth, she is world-class. There lies the problem. Even with belts that should attract interest, the phone has been silent.

But the phone did eventually ring. A golden opportunity to impress and become a permanent member of that ever-increasing Most Valuable Promotions family. Gallagher was scheduled to fight on April 5th at the Olympia in London on the very first UK show for MVP. But lady luck has transpired against her once again. In a routine sparring session, a ligament detached from her elbow, and Gallagher knew instantly that the opportunity to change her life was suddenly gone.

“I felt like my world was crushed,” Gallagher told FightPost. ” I was finally getting the life-changing opportunity I’ve been grinding for. I was going to be a part of such an amazing card on Easter Sunday. I cared more about missing out on that than the injury itself at the time.”

The 27-year-old was hoping to build some real momentum after a frustrating 2025 that only gave her one fight. But the unfortunate injury that scuppered her big moment in April is likely to keep her out of action until the latter part of 2026. “The recovery period is expected to be about three to four months, so, hopefully, I will be back out before the end of the year. The plan going forward is just lots of physio and rehab, and trying to keep my mental health in tip-top form, ready to come back even stronger.”

Tysie Gallagher (10-2) was an excited fighter at the London press conference last month that formally announced MVP’s first UK show. A star-studded top table that featured Ellie Scotney, Caroline Dubois, Terri Harper, Chantelle Cameron, and Emma Dolan. Gallagher was looking forward to her place on that card. A chance to massively change the trajectory of her career. A win and a good performance would likely have seen Gallagher become another MVP signing. But fate has yet again dealt the former world title challenger a cruel hand.

Gallagher is no stranger to frustration and disappointment, and crucially, at 27, she has time on her side with her peak years still ahead of her. But if anyone deserves a change of luck, it’s Tysie Gallagher.
