Gemma Richardson vs. Johana Rajmont Confirmed For The MVP Card on April 5th

While the news that Gemma Richardson would feature on MVP’s first entry into the UK market was already in the public domain, her place on that undercard has been officially confirmed today.

Richardson will face Johana Rajmont from Czechia on Easter Sunday on a card that features Caroline Dubois and Terri Harper setting their differences at the Olympia in London in a massive all-British world lightweight title unification showdown. Ellie Scotney gets her chance at going undisputed at super-bantamweight, with Chantelle Cameron having an opportunity to win a world title in a second weight division. Emma Dolan also features on that main card, which will be screened live on Sky Sports. Dolan gets her maiden world title opportunity against the IBF world super-flyweight title holder Irma Garcia.

Gemma Richardson has secured a golden opportunity to impress to a wider audience, and also the MVP paymasters. A good performance against Johana Rajmont could see Richardson get signed and become a permanent member of that illustrious MVP roster. “It’s such a big platform to be on, and MVP is the place to be now for female boxers,” Richardson told me last week. “And that is where I want to be.”

Rajmont (6-6-1), who has a fight listed on Boxrec against the unbeaten Christina Desmond on Saturday night, looks like an ideal opponent for Richardson to look good against.

Richardson was an elite amateur before turning professional last year, and in her two fights in the pro ranks showed that she is a fighter of real promise. The unbeaten super-lightweight told me she doesn’t feel out of place on such a star-studded card. “There are so many great fighters on the card, and I do believe I belong up there with them.”
