Beyond The Ropes: Caroline Dubois vs. Terri Harper
If women’s boxing is to thrive and not merely survive, the female side of the sport badly needs rivalries. It needs great fights. With Caroline Dubois and Terri Harper, we seemingly have that in abundance.

Dubois and Harper will form part of a new beginning for Sky Sports when they clash on April 5th at the Olympia in London in a good old-fashioned grudge match with the WBC and WBO world lightweight titles on the line.
“This fight has been a long time in the making,” Harper said in the press release to announce the fight. “I’m grateful to MVP for getting it over the line. I’m excited to be headlining MVP’s first UK show!”
“I’m excited to make this fight,” Dubois says of her big unification fight with Harper. “This is a massive fight in my career and for British boxing, both a legacy fight and unification. The goal is to become undisputed world champion, and this is the first step.”
The early odds have Dubois as a strong betting favourite. But Harper has been written off before, and you sense she will relish the underdog status. The night she claimed the WBO lightweight bauble in 2024, Harper was a massive outsider against Rhiannon Dixon. But the Denaby fighter defied those odds to inflict the first blemish on the resume of Dixon.
Despite being a three-division world champion, Harper’s accomplishments still go under the radar somewhat. A win over Dubois, and everything changes for her in that regard. Harper represents the toughest challenge to date for the unbeaten Dubois. At 29, Harper is at her peak and, in terms of standards, is by far the most experienced fighter Dubois has faced to date. Harper has competed at a much higher level than all of Dubois’s previous opponents. Could Harper be catching Dubois at the right time?
But it will be an extremely difficult task for Harper. Dubois is being hailed as a future superstar by many. The 4-1 pre-fight odds on a Harper victory are not encouraging. Dubois is 2/9 to unify her division. But those odds are similar to what Harper faced against Dixon, and we know what happened there. The three-weight champion has found a new degree of confidence of late, and she clearly fancies it. Harper once said of Dubois, “I can’t wait to punch her in the mouth.” On Easter Sunday, she gets to do exactly that.
It’s been a long time coming, but it looks like it’s going to be more than worth the wait.
