Megan Redstall Beats Klaudia Ferenczi On Points At The York Hall

Megan Redstall ended a difficult week with a six-round points victory over Klaudia Ferenczi on Sunday at the York Hall on the latest Top Tier card.

Redstall started the week looking forward to fighting Laura Pain for the vacant Commonwealth bantamweight title, but when Pain withdrew in fight week with a shoulder injury, Redstall had to be content with a stay busy fight against the veteran Ferenczi. The fight went the full six rounds, with Redstall winning every round and having her hand raised courtesy of a 60-54 scorecard.

Even considering the level of opponent in front of her, there was much to like about the performance of Redstall. The 24-year-old showed impressive distance control, fast hands, and moved around the round effortlessly at times. Redstall, who beat Ferenczi over four rounds earlier in her career, is maturing into a fighter who could win major titles in the coming years.

Redstall (6-0-1) has now won four fights on the bounce since suffering the only minor blemish on her record against Inna Statkevych, when she had to settle for a draw. Statkevych is one of the better imports, and Redstall shouldn’t be judged too harshly on that performance in her third professional fight. She has rebounded quite nicely since that fight in 2023.

Megan Redstall hopes 2026 is when the major titles start to happen for her. That vacant Commonwealth title will surely be a target again. Laura Pain has expressed an interest in fighting Redstall once her shoulder injury has fully healed. Time will tell if Pain is still in the picture. Depending on her recovery period, timing might not be on her side.

It looks like Redstall will be a regular feature on Johnny Clark’s Top Tier shows, and she will likely have many options going forward, and could target the likes of Francesca Hennessy, who won her latest fight on Saturday night live on BBC Two. Redstall might have gone under the radar somewhat so far in her career, but that could all be about to change.
