November 21st: Sam Lightfoot Makes Her Long-Awaited Professional Debut

Sam Lightfoot will finally get to make her professional debut on Friday, 21st November at the Doncaster Dome. After a lengthy process in her application for a British Boxing of Control licence, the 23-year-old was recently finally given the green light to get her professional career up and running, and her team has wasted no time in booking that long-awaited maiden ring walk in the paid ranks.

Kira Carter will be in the opposite corner at the Doncaster Dome next week. Carter, who lost on points to Mae Astbury this past weekend in Stoke-on-Trent, has an unflattering 0-23-1 resume, but is vastly experienced, and is the perfect opponent for Lightfoot after such a long time out of the ring. In recent times, the likes of Ruth Huntley, Ebonie Cotton, Mia Holland, and Laura Pain have all beaten Carter, and the odds suggest that the ambitious Lightfoot will do the same. Carter is normally durable; not many finish her inside the distance. Lightfoot could make a real statement on her professional debut if she can manage to get Carter out of there. She seems to be in the mood to do exactly that.

“I am absolutely buzzing,” a clearly excited Lightfoot told FightPost. “It’s been a long time coming. From the first time I stepped into the boxing gym all those years ago, I have dreamt of turning pro. As soon as the opportunity came knocking, we jumped at it.”
