Emma Dolan Moves Closer To A Shot At The IBF World Super-Flyweight Title
Emma Dolan has taken a significant step forward in her quest to fight for the IBF world super-flyweight title.
The unbeaten Dolan, the mandatory challenger to the current IBF bauble holder Irma Garcia, has finally got some semblance of light after a frustrating few months of waiting for the call to be made. The representatives of Garcia and Dolan have been given until November 13th to reach a deal. If no agreement is reached between the two parties, the proposed fight between Garcia and Dolan will then go to purse bids. Either way, that long wait of Emma Dolan wanting to fight for a world title appears to be over.
Dolan (8-0) hasn’t fought since her win over Lauren Parker in April in defence of her British and Commonwealth super-flyweight titles, but she was scheduled to make her return next month in Newark in a defence of her Commonwealth title. But with the long-awaited IBF title shot looming, Dolan has been pulled from the card to safeguard her opportunity at the world title. The highly-ranked but still incredibly underrated Dolan should have that golden opportunity on the world stage against the 44-year-old Mexican IBF champion early in the new year.
Garcia (25-5-1) is riding a four-fight win streak, including the victory over the then-unbeaten
Stephanie Silva in 2023, which earned Garcia the vacant IBF title. The Mexican undoubtedly has credentials, but Dolan could very well be in the right place at the right time. At 27, Dolan is heading into her peak years and with wins over the likes of Nicola Hopewell and Shannon Ryan, she seems more than ready for an assault on the world title.
