Mikiah Kreps: “I’m ready and willing to fight anyone to become a world champion.”

The unbeaten world super-bantamweight title contender Mikiah Kreps moved to 11-0 earlier this month when she defeated the Argentinian fighter Juliana Vanesa Basualdo over eight rounds at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel.

“This was an awkward opponent that was a last-minute southpaw for me,” Kreps told FightPost. “I didn’t have any southpaw sparring this camp, so I feel that if I had the proper preparation, I could have done a few things differently. But we made the adjustments and got the victory pretty clearly, in my opinion. I’m always my own worst critic, so I feel there’s always room for improvement.”

Kreps prevailed by way of a split-decision. Two judges saw it to Kreps 77-75 and a wider 78-74. But one judge had the Argentinian winning 77-75, a scorecard that the American doesn’t agree with. “I think that I won a lot more convincingly than one of the scorecards stated. I started a little slow, but as the rounds went on, I felt I won them clearly; I was defensively sound, and the aggressor the whole night, landing the more effective shots.”

The highly-ranked Kreps remained unbeaten in Niagara Falls, and the former elite amateur is hoping she can land a world title opportunity in the very near future. “I’m ready and want the biggest fights in 2026,” a confident Kreps told me.

Kreps, who won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Amateur Championships, is chasing gold in the professional ranks. “I’m ready and willing to fight anyone to become a world champion.”
