Stephy Lee Cutting: “With no amateur career and now fighting for that title in my tenth fight, this is a great opportunity for me.”
The unbeaten Australian Stephy Lee Cutting has landed the biggest fight of her career to date. On Friday, November 7th, Cutting will fight the once-beaten Mariah Turner for the IBF International featherweight title.

“With no amateur career and now fighting for that title in my tenth fight, this is a great opportunity for me,” Cutting told FightPost. “It is very important to get the win to continue my momentum to being fast tracked and moving up the rankings.”
Turner represents by some distance, the toughest test to date for Cutting. “My opponent is a tough girl,” Cutting concedes. “She has only lost once. I am 9-0, and she is 11-1, and together, we have a total of eleven stoppages. It’s going to be a great fight that tests us both, and I am really looking forward to it.”
Cutting is ranked number nine by the IBF, and she hopes a win over Turner will take her to the upper echelons of her division and within touching distance of a world title shot.
Like many, the entry into boxing came when Cutting was going through a difficult period in her life. “I got into boxing when I went through a really dark place in my life. Boxing is what got me out of it, and I fell in love with it.”
“I love that it tests you in every single way,” Cutting adds. “Physically, mentally and I get pushed in every fight camp, and I love the discipline it brings to my life. It makes me a better person, and I love the challenges it brings.”
At 34, and despite that limited experience in the sport, no amateur pedigree and just those nine professional fights to her name, Stephy Lee Cutting has ambitions of reaching the pinnacle of her sport.
“My end goal in the sport is to become a world champion. To help others push through the dark times and to be a representation that if you keep pushing and believe in yourself, then anything is possible.”
