THIRD TIME UNLUCKY – FOR HER: TRIPLE CHAMPION TYSIE GALLAGHER VOWS DEFEAT FOR EBONIE JONES WHEN 14-YEAR RIVALRY REIGNITES IN THREE-TITLE TRILOGY FIGHT ON FEBRUARY 7TH

THIRD TIME UNLUCKY – FOR HER: TRIPLE CHAMPION TYSIE GALLAGHER VOWS DEFEAT FOR EBONIE JONES WHEN 14-YEAR RIVALRY REIGNITES IN THREE-TITLE TRILOGY FIGHT ON FEBRUARY 7TH

– Gallagher defends British, Commonwealth, and European titles at GBM: A NEW DAWN, live on DAZN

– Former Team GB Olympic candidate Jones holds two amateur wins over defending champion

Three championship titles and fourteen years of dispute will be on the line when one of the longest-running rivalries in British women’s boxing boils over in Sheffield on Friday, February 7th at GBM: A NEW DAWN, live and exclusively on DAZN.

Tysie Gallagher and Ebonie Jones clashed twice in the amateur ranks on their way to becoming Team GB Olympic squad candidates. Jones won both encounters, and now Gallagher – who holds the British, Commonwealth, and European super-bantamweight championships – is out for revenge as they meet for the first time in the professional ranks.

The pair first clashed as 12-year-olds in the amateurs and rematched again five years later in the semi-finals of the prestigious ABA Elites. On both occasions, the decision went Jones’ way; having never agreed with the judges, Gallagher intends to settle the score emphatically next month.

“Rematching under professional rules plays in my favour big time. That’s a totally different kind of fight – and it’s over ten rounds, which also works in my favour. If you look at the last few years, I’ve developed into a proper seasoned professional, and I’m not sure that she has. I think that’s going to be the difference here,” says Gallagher (9-2).

“If you look at the level of opponents I’ve faced the last three years and the opportunities I’ve had, the consistency I’ve had, she’s not had that. I feel like I’ve been building steadily the last few years, and now I see myself at world level.”

Jones (6-01) is originally from Portsmouth but relocated to Sheffield in 2022 to work with her current trainer, Pierce Gudgeon. She has fond memories of the city from her time training there with Team GB as an Olympic squad hopeful and thinks she’s in the perfect place to prepare for this title fight.

Jones says, “This upcoming fight is the biggest of my career. It’s a huge opportunity that could open so many doors for me, and I couldn’t be in a better place or with a better trainer. I can’t stop thinking about the belts – I want them so badly!”

“I think the history between us just adds to the excitement. She definitely doesn’t want to be losing to me for a third time. But I’m not overconfident either. Tysie is more experienced than me as a professional, and she’s got the belts, which gives her the confidence of being a champion.

“But I love being the underdog. I’ve got nothing to lose, and I feel like this fight could change everything for me. My journey in boxing has had its ups and downs, but I truly believe 2025 is going to be my year.”

Gallagher disagrees. “She’s probably feeling confident because of those two amateur wins she’s got over me, but that’s good. It’s been very motivating for me, and I hope she brings the best version of herself because I want to beat the best version of her on February 7th. It’s going to be third time unlucky for her.”

For GBM promoter Izzy Asif, the bout promises to start the year with a bang. “I love this fight. These two have a long history together, and even though Tysie Gallagher is the triple champion, carrying three belts to the ring, she’s the one going in there looking for revenge. She’s heated for this one.

“Then for Ebonie Jones, she turned pro after her Olympic hopes were dashed. The chance to win these titles and take her pro career to the next level means everything to her. This is going to be all-action, non-stop, and I can’t wait to be ringside for it on February 7th.”

GBM: A NEW DAWN takes place Friday, February 7th at the Canon Medical Arena, Sheffield, and is headlined by British light-heavyweight standout Shakan Pitters challenging for the European Light-Heavyweight Championship against defending champion Daniel Dos Santos.

The event airs live and exclusively worldwide on DAZN from 7pm UK time.
