The FightPost Female Pound-For-Pound Rankings

The FightPost Female Pound-For-Pound Rankings

Despite the stagnation of women’s boxing in 2024, there is still much to celebrate in the female side of the sport. The talent is there. And crucially, that talent pool is getting ever deeper. Many will debate who should be where on this list, but the fact that there is debate is a sign of progress.

You could legitimately argue that Ellie Scotney, Lauren Price, and Sandy Ryan should be among the top ten. Scotney, especially, has a strong argument to be included. Another Shane McGuigan-trained fighter Caroline Dubois, you suspect will be more than worthy of consideration by this time next year. More than a few of the fighters currently residing in the top ten could have retired by the end of 2025. I suspect the pound-for-pound rankings will look very different in twelve months time.

Seniesa Estrada went undisputed in 2024, and would undoubtedly be high on this list if she hadn’t retired from the sport. That incredibly honest interview with Crystina Poncher for Top Rank brings to the surface the brutality of the sport. History will be kind to her.

The list is very much a cause for celebration. Katie Taylor and Claressa Shields are unquestionably the best two-female fighters on the planet. Many will argue the merits of where they should be on the list. I wouldn’t argue too much either way. They are two incredibly gifted fighters. As are, every other fighter on this list.
