Roha Hudson Suffers Unexpected Defeat on her Professional Debut
It didn’t quite go to plan for Telford’s Roha Hudson as she suffered an unexpected defeat on her professional debut.
The experienced Polish import Esta Konecna knew a little too much for the debutant Hudson and won a points decision over four rounds at the Coventry Sky Dome on the latest GBM Sports show.

Hudson couldn’t find her range, her jab often falling short, and her attempted power punches couldn’t find their intended target often enough to deter the tough and ready Polish fighter. Konecna started to fancy the job when she realised her favoured opponent was struggling. Hudson needed a strong finish in the final round, and when it didn’t come, there was only one winner at the final bell. Konecna got the verdict 39-37 courtesy of the referees scorecard.
It wasn’t the start Hudson hoped for to her professional career. After an unbeaten amateur run that included National titles, the defeat to Konecna was the first ever defeat she has suffered in a boxing ring. Nerves might have got the better of Hudson on her big night. Or it might just have simply been a bad night at the office. Trust me, it happens.
But Hudson is no stranger in overcoming adversity, and the early reversal is unlikely to be the end of the Roha Hudson story. Hudson will be back and will likely return a much better fighter where her lack of experience just proved a bridge too far against Konecna.
