The FightPost Ten: Katie Riddle
First Ever Memory:
That’s a tough one. maybe playing on the playground at kinder.
First-Ever Boxing Memory:
It was one of my first times sparing when I was aged 17. This was when I got my first nickname ‘Pocket.’
What Has Boxing Given You:
Boxing has given me so much. From confidence to discipline and more than anything, it has taught me how to be resilient.
Where Would You Be Without Boxing:
I actually have no idea. I have done boxing for half of my life, and I really couldn’t imagine my life without it. But I would like to think I would be doing something sport-related as I have always been very active.
Biggest Regret In Life:
I don’t really have regrets as such. I believe that the things that we go through in our lives are what shapes us as people so we can always take something away from each of our experiences. Good and bad.
The Thing You Are Most Proud Of:
Of course, my two babies. I have a 2 – and 3-year-old and I am proud to be setting the example that they can achieve anything that they set their mind to and to do what makes them most happy.
Who Inspires You The Most And Why:
There are a few people who really inspire me, but I would have to say that April Napthine is one of the most inspiring women I know. April is also a mum of two young babies and has just completed her first year back boxing since having her kids, which she managed to represent Australia in two international tournaments.
Remember her name because the sky is the limit for her. I don’t know anyone who puts in the work like she does, and while raising two young kids. She is also the biggest hype girl for everyone else, a beautiful person to call my friend and sparing partner.
Where Is Your Happy Place:
This one is easy. Training alone in the gym.
What One Thing Would You Change To Make The Sport Better:
I think the sport is heading in a really exciting direction. Especially for women.
What Does Life After Boxing Look Like:
Probably carting my kids around the country chasing their own dreams.
