Francesca Hennessy Moves To 2-0 in Bournemouth
It’s far too early to say if Francesca Hennessy really is the Billion Dollar Baby, but the young bantamweight prospect has done nothing wrong in her two professional fights to date.
On Sunday night in Bournemouth, Hennessy eased past Argentina’s Lucrecia Bellen Arrieta on points over six rounds with little discomfort.
It was another fight where the 19-year-old showed her potential and class. The referee scored the contest 59-55 to Hennessy, although it is difficult to gauge which round the Argentinian import actually won. It looked as though Hennessy had won every round. This observer saw it 60-54 for the home fighter.
Arrieta did well to stay the course and looked to be struggling with the pace from around the halfway point, but she managed to take the Boxxer prospect the full six rounds.
Hennessy has fast hands and feet and glides in and out of range with ease and could have a golden future ahead of her. The Sevenoaks fighter will move up to eight rounds in 2024, but there is no immediate rush for a fighter who was tipped for big things before her debut earlier this year. Hennessy does look to have a little bit of star potential about her, and her journey in the professional ranks could be very interesting indeed. Francesca Hennessy is certainly a prospect to keep an eye on in the next few years.
