The Rematch: Chantelle Cameron vs. Katie Taylor: The Fighters Pick

The Rematch: Chantelle Cameron vs. Katie Taylor: The Fighters Pick

Chantelle Cameron and Katie Taylor will renew acquaintances again this Saturday night in Dublin live on DAZN.

The first fight was billed as the big homecoming for the Irish superstar, but it didn’t quite to plan for Taylor. Cameron was inspired in the fight that she had always wanted and was a more than worthy winner after ten relentless and savage rounds.

Taylor, with the obligatory rematch clause in her contract, quickly activated it, and this Saturday night she will look to gain revenge over the fighter who took away her unbeaten record in May on that emotional night at the 3Arena. Cameron will again be putting her undisputed light-welterweight baubles on the line.

Skybet favours Cameron to retain her world titles and repeat what she managed so magnificently the first time around. The reigning champion is 4/7 to beat the undisputed lightweight champion again. Cameron is also 10/11 to emerge victorious again on points. The majority of the fighters polled agree. The likes of the two-weight world champion Natasha Jonas and her next opponent, Mikaela Mayer and a plethora of their fellow fighters, are in agreement.

Lauren Parker: Cameron on points
Kaye Scott: Cameron on points
Nina Hughes: Cameron on points
Shona Whitwell: Cameron on points
Linn Sandstrom: Cameron on points
Louise Orton: Cameron on points
Natasha Jonas: Cameron on points
Kirstie Bavington: Cameron on points
Amy Greatorex: Chantelle on points
Sian O’Toole: Cameron on points
Paige Murney: Cameron on points
Jade Childs: Cameron on points
Katie Healy: Cameron on points
Rianna Doforo: Cameron on points
Mikaela Mayer: Cameron on points
Kate McClaren: Cameron on points
Jordan Barker-Porter: Cameron on points
Katharina Thanderz: Cameron on points

The favoured betting line, whoever wins, is that the fight will go the distance once again. But a Cameron victory inside the distance seems decent enough value at 5-1, and six fighters including Hannah Robinson and Cindy Ngambi who have been in camp with Cameron think that the Northampton fighter could stop Taylor in the second half of the fight.

Hannah Robinson: Cameron in 7
Viviana Ruiz: Cameron in 8
Elise Glynn: Cameron in 8
Cindy Ngambi: Cameron in 6
Klara Svensson: Cameron in 8
Jade Taylor: Cameron in 8

Katie Taylor can never be counted out, especially on home soil, where emotions could be hard to ignore and overcome in many ways. Taylor is 6-4 to win, with odds of 15-8 that she does so on points. Even though the vast majority of fighters FightPost asked strongly favour a repeat of what we got in May, seven fighters, including the elite Australian amateur stars Antonia Kay and Emma-Sue Greentree, think Taylor can get that revenge over Cameron.

Nicola Hopewell: Taylor on points
Hannah Baggelay: Taylor on points
Ivana Habazin: Taylor on points
Emma-Sue Greentree: Taylor on points
Antonia Kay: Taylor on points
Marianne Ahlborg: Taylor on points
Roha Hudson: Taylor on points

The draw is valued at 12-1 and does look remarkably good value if you think that honours will be shared in Dublin. The draw is far from unrealistic.

Overall, FightPost polled thirty-one fighters, with twenty-four of them thinking Chantelle Cameron will once again spoil the party in Dublin. Only seven fighters think Katie Taylor will send her incredibly vocal Irish faithful home in early festive cheer.
