Louise Orton Beats Bojana Libiszewska on Points
The long-awaited return to action of Louise Orton ended with a comprehensive victory and, in many ways, a huge sigh of relief, no doubt on Saturday night at the York Hall in London.
Orton was dominant in securing a 60-54 points victory over the Polish fighter Bojana Libiszewska. The only disappointment for the former amateur star was that she didn’t secure a stoppage victory over Libiszewska. But it was a night that was about the comeback, the victory, and what lies ahead for the immensely talented super-featherweight hopeful. Orton showed her class, and her performance offers real hope that all the promise that was offered when she first turned professional in 2019 can still be fulfilled.
The win over Libiszewska in her first fight since March of last year has been a long time coming in many ways, and the hope is that 2024 brings a period of regular activity that allows us to see just how good Louise Orton really is. The amateur resume indicates that she is very good.
With the greatest of respect to her domestic rivals, Orton should quickly establish herself as the premier super-featherweight in the country, with a regular dose of ring activity that she has been so cruelly denied since she turned over four years ago. Orton will be a fighter in a hurry, and you sense that by the end of 2024, she will very much want to be in the title picture at world level. Orton believes she is capable of winning world titles, and the hope is Saturday night was the first step in doing exactly that.
