Unbeaten Amateur Roha Hudson Turns Professional
The unbeaten amateur star Roha Hudson is the latest fighter to join the blossoming female professional ranks.
The former National Champion has signed professional terms with Jon Pegg and will make her professional debut in the coming months.
“This is the start of what I’m sure will be a great journey. A journey I hope everyone is excited to follow as I prepare to cause absolute chaos on the boxing scene.” A clearly excited Hudson said in formally announcing her decision on Social Media.
Due to Covid, illness, and a long-lasting struggle to find opponents, Hudson was restricted to just eight professional fights as an amateur.
“I didn’t start fighting until I was 18. Covid took away two years, and my illnesses took away another two years in total.” Hudson told me in March just a few days away from what was supposed to be her last fight in the unpaid ranks.
That planned farewell amateur fight also fell by the wayside when her scheduled opponent failed to turn up. But the frustrations of the past will now give way to what Hudson will hope will be an active schedule in the next few years
“I want to take it seriously. And no matter what, this is my career now. Regardless of who I come up against, I believe I can go far.” Hudson told me over Zoom, a fighter in a rush to make her mark quickly on the professional scene.
A Personal Trainer outside of her boxing routine, Hudson 25, will campaign in the super-middleweight division when that professional debut materialises sometime over the summer period.
