Rhiannon Dixon Moves To 6-0
In recording her sixth straight victory, Rhiannon Dixon delivered the best performance of her career so far.
Dixon improved her resume to 6-0 courtesy of a highly impressive points victory over the Hungarian veteran Edina Kiss. Showing improved patience, a thudding and dominate jab from her southpaw stance, and no little power, Dixon showed further glimpses of her undoubted potential.
Kiss briefly offered hope in a closer second round, but one big left hand from Dixon stopped Kiss in her tracks, and Kiss did well to stay upright. And from that point on, the only question was how the unbeaten Warrington lightweight prospect would win.
Dixon had a particularly strong 5th round, landing repeated heavy shots with both hands, and a stoppage victory looked a real possibility. But Kiss bravely hung in there, many would have folded. But any thoughts of victory from the away corner had long since gone. The 6th round was more of the same and Dixon eased to a comfortable 60-54 points victory. The rounds in the bank will serve Dixon well going forward.
The improvement since the hook-up with Anthony Crolla is obvious, and there was much to like in a performance that offers real hope that she may emulate Crolla as a world champion somewhere down the line. The early tendency to rush and force her work is diminishing, and Dixon is maturing into a very exciting prospect. And will only get better.
