Coldwell Expecting Gill to Take European Chance
Dave Coldwell believes Jordan Gill’s European title opportunity on December 11th can serve as a platform for bigger fights in 2022. Gill, who has had to endure a difficult 2021 in terms of injury and illness, can finish the year strong by becoming European champion against Karim Guerfi. Coldwell says that victory over the Frenchman can open doors for Gill.
“It’s a title that Jordan has had his eyes on for a while and now he wants to use it to get bigger fights,” said Coldwell. “Jordan has been ready for a fight like this for a long time now and I’m confident that you’ll see the absolute best of him when the bell goes next month. Guerfi will bring some problems, but I’ve been saying for a while that Jordan can be world class.
“This fight can get him up the rankings quickly and then we’ll see how things look at featherweight going into next year. We’ve seen the ratings change quite regularly over here with the results of Leigh Wood, Josh Warrington, and Kid Galahad so it shows you how dangerous the division is. Jordan thrives on that, and I think he’ll be a good addition to the mix once he’s dealt with Guerfi.”
