Anthony Crolla Ends His Career With a Win
It ended in a subdued manner, controversial even, but tonight shouldn’t define the career of Anthony Crolla.
Crolla has dragged every last bit out of his body and his skills, the decision to call it a day is a wise one.
He knows himself he is on the slide, but Crolla leaves the sport content with what he has achieved.
Tonight in Manchester wasn’t quite the farewell many would have hoped, but it tells us Crolla’s time is up. In many ways it leaves no doubt there is nothing left in the tank, Crolla shouldn’t be a stepping stone for anyone.
Crolla’s got the decision by scores of 95-95, 98-92, 97-93 which were incredibly hard on his opponent Frank Urquiaga.
Urquiaga looked extremely unlucky not to get at least a draw, right from the opening round he threatened to spoil the party.
Crolla might have been a shade fortunate tonight, but he leaves the sport knowing he couldn’t have done anymore. The fractured world titles have given us many poor so called world champions over the years, Crolla isn’t one of them.
