Sensational Sharp Climbs World Rankings

Unbeaten super-featherweight star Archie Sharp is closing in on a future world title shot after he climbed to No. 6 in the WBO world rankings.

Sharp (17-0, 9 KOs) picked up another impressive victory when he stopped Declan Geraghty in the fourth round of their battle at the Royal Albert Hall last month, retaining his WBO European title in the process.

The win has seen Sharp move up in the rankings, with the 24-year-old now on the brink of cracking the top five and potentially securing a crack at world honours.

Sharp said: “I’m no. 6 in the WBO world rankings. I’m chasing dreams right now and I’m only a stone’s throw away to making it happen and I’m only 24.”

The WBO belt is held by Jamel Herring, who has previously spoke about his intentions to take on Sharp in the future, in what would be a huge super-featherweight battle.

It’s been a brilliant year for Sharp in 2019, with his win over Geraghty going alongside his dominant victories against Jordan McCorry and Sergio Gonzalez.

He won the WBO European super-featherweight title last October after a convincing win against previously unbeaten Leon Woodstock Jr.
