UFC Copenhagen: Cannonier Emerges as a True Contender in the Middleweight Division

Jared Cannonier emerged as a true middleweight title contender with a TKO win over Jack Hermansson in Copenhagen’s main event.
Hermansson begun the fight adopting his typical energetic style, but when he found openings for takedowns, the equally surging Cannonier had an answer for them.
Cannonier picked his shots well, and looked the more threatening of the two on the feet. The American’s best strikes in the opening round came by way of leg kicks.
Cannonier continued in the ascendancy in round two, but this time unleashing more meaningful strikes. Hermansson retreated and fell to the floor, hurt. Cannonier moved in and his vicious ground and pound put an end to the fight.
Cannonier sealed his third consecutive win, and his first over a top five contender. The winner of next week’s middleweight title fight will be weighing up Cannonier as a a potential opponent.
